On February 8, 2020, Paradigm Mechanical Corps. founder and CEO, Melinda Dicharry's vision for a free, family-friendly event designed to introduce construction careers to kids was realized. As the Vice President of the Future Construction Leaders Foundation and a member of NAWIC, Dicharry has been involved with overseeing and volunteering at events designed to introduce students to the trades for many years. However, she felt there was room for another event open to families in the San Diego community. The first annual Kids Construction Expo took place at the Scottish Rite Center in San Diego, CA with exhibitors from throughout the construction industry provided activities, displays, and giveaways for the whole family. Activities included hands-on opportunities to learn more about electrical, sheet metal, plumbing, carpentry, and more. Students in kindergarten through 6th grade also participated in our annual Block Kids Building Competition.
